It’s hot, it’s busy, it’s humid, it’s hectic, it’s SUMMER. Let me set the scene — 3 hours of sleep, baby on my hip, laundry in the wash, business call in my earpods… meeting in 30 minutes.
I get it ladies, summer is hectic. Remember the days when school was out for summer and your only job was to enjoy the sunshine? If only that was still the case. The thing is… summer keeps coming, activities keep coming, the sunshine keeps coming.. and so does the work. All the heat combined with a jam packed schedule leaves my brain feeling a little bit foggy. Sometimes, a decision like “What should I wear today?” feel like a big deal.. Is it just me? I hope not.
I put together some summer outfit ideas for all of you busy, fun+sun-seeking girls – let me take one decision off your plate — more time for the beach.
From Tea Party to Cocktail Party
Okay let’s be serious, I want to wear this skirt to EVERY occasion. Not only is it super comfortable and easy to wear, it’s also very flattering. I paired this with a white cap sleeved top, a nude heel (can’t take away from the star of the show (my skirt)) and a straw-look clutch from Ever New to keep things casual.
For Dinner With His Parents
How do you keep things classy without long sleeves and long legs? This outfit. Conservative, cute and surprisingly light. This skirt can be dressed up with a formal top, or worn casually with a white tee and sandals, it’s become one of my summer staples. I paired it with this blush beaded clutch from Ever New and my staple Louboutin heels.
For The (100th) Wedding Of The Summer
Do you think anyone will notice if I wear this dress to three different weddings this summer? How do you stand out when everyone is dressed to the nines? Sequins! I love this split leg, front twist beauty. It is classy with just a little bit of sass (just like me!). I paired it with a super subtle nude heel, and a beautiful embellished clutch. If you’re going bold with your dress, I always suggest a minimal shoe and earring.
The One Stop Shop
Yup, you guessed it – I’m talking about jumpsuits. The any-day, anywhere, one-piece outfit. I love a white jumpsuit because I feel like it’s easiest to dress up and down, you can wear it to a formal dinner, or toss on some flip flops and head out to brunch with the girls. Since a jumpsuit is just one (easy!) piece, spice up your accessories. If you want to keep things neutral, this is my go-to barely-there heel.
The Everyday Dress
You wake up, you have no idea what to wear, it’s hot, it’s sweaty, you just want to feel comfortable – this is your fix: The Market dress by I Like Her Style who just came out with their first collection of very wearable and affordable, cute pieces. Loose body, flattering drape, light material and fashionable pattern. If you are wondering what I’m talking about, you are in desperate need for this addition to your closet. The one fool-proof item you can dress up or down, and wear for any event. To be styled per occasion, get yourself a market dress girls! For those of you who have one, how thankful are you?
I Just Want To Go To The Beach
Beachside, hiking, picnic-bound, SUPing – this is your go-to. A cute, light-weight pair of overalls for your most casual summer days. Something you can toss over a bathing suit, and whip off easily when you’re ready for a dip. I love these denim shorteralls from H&M. Did you know that H&M has a new sustainability strategy? Take a look.
And last but not least probably my favourite dress of all has to be this Emma Knudsen Lauren Dress. It’s the ultimate summer wardrobe essential. This is the sweetest little number and it could not be more comfortable, lightweight and flattering on almost all body types! With a drop-waist and oversized fit you’ll be twirling for days. And not to mention, this dress was 100% made and designed in Canada!! Gotta LOVE that!!
So my friends, from morning to night, cocktail to hot-dog, these looks have you ready for everything coming your way. I know it can be stressful shopping for a seasonal wardrobe, stick to these six staple outfits above, and you’ll be covered (literally) all summer. Happy shopping, and happy sunning. I’ll leave you with this smiling shot of baby Pierce!!
