Hello bookworms, I’m so excited to announce my partnership with Indigo. Every month, I’ll be introducing a new staff-pick read from Indigo to feature for my book club.  If you’re wondering if you can be a member of my book club, the answer is yes. Here’s how; Step 1, you read the books, step 2, you comment on my posts, e-mail me or DM me and let me know what you thought of the read. And then you get entered for a chance to WIN a $50 gift card!!! Yes, it’s that easy. I am a huge reader and always am sure to carve out time for books in my busy schedule. Every single Indigo recommendation I’ve been given has been added to my list of favourite books, so I’m so excited to have this ‘in’. AND I’m so excited to share these gems with you!

Okay bookworms, I’d like to introduce you to book number one. Meet “BRAVE” By Rose Mcgowan.

BRAVE” was one of those books that I couldn’t put down – forget the laundry, leave the dishes, my  “sorry for the delayed response” e-mails and keep turning the pages.

Rose McGowan was born in one cult and came of age in another, more visible cult: Hollywood. In a strange world where she was continually on display, stardom soon became a personal nightmare of constant exposure and sexualization. Rose escaped into the world of her mind, something she had done as a child and into high-profile relationships. Every detail of her personal life became public, and the realities of an inherently sexist industry emerged with every script, role, public appearance and magazine cover. The Hollywood machine packaged her as a sexualized bombshell, hijacking her image and identity and marketing them for profit.

BRAVE is her raw, honest, and poignant memoir/manifesto—a no-holds-barred, pull-no-punches account of the rise of a millennial icon, fearless activist and unstoppable force for change who is determined to expose the truth about the entertainment industry, dismantle the concept of fame, shine a light on a multi-billion dollar business built on systemic misogyny and empower people everywhere to wake up and be BRAVE.

In my opinion, this is the kind of book that you should read – give to your brother, sister, mom, cousin, gym mate and every other person who’s hands you can get it in. This is the type of book that spreads a message that is not just relevant but is necessary. I think that the message is imperative for everyone to be educated on and I look forward to hearing your reviews.
