Nothing Better Than Neutrals for Fall

Well, there’s nothing better than neutrals except neutrals from Noel Asmar. I always find that my style takes a turn to 5(0) shades of grey for fall. I usually find myself dripping in black, white and grey basics, with a pop of color in my accessories, if I’m feeling it. Whether it be a long dress, an oversized turtleneck, or even classic trousers, I love playing with layering as the weather turns chilly. I have a huge jacket obsession, so, I love to stock up on basics to wear under my collection of statement jackets.

I had an amazing day at at the stables with Noel Asmar, and I wanted to show you some of my favourite pieces from their fall equestrian collection and my new favourite horse Chianti who had a nicer hair-do than me.

Let me tell you about a little number called the Harlow Dress. I don’t know how I’ve lived without this piece before now. The wide neckline is equally as classy as it is sassy and the length is conservative and wildly flattering. It’s the perfect LBD to wear with a sweater and a peacoat to the office AND transition into heels and a leather jacket for a night out. It could even be dressed up with a blazer for a conference. I love the drape and the pleats in the shoulders add an elevated and elegant look.

Now, you guys know about the “boyfriend jean” but you may not have heard of the “boyfriend coat.” One of the most versatile pieces is the “Riley Boyfriend Coat” – it’s menswear inspired, with a slightly oversized fit. The straight silhouette is flattering and the extra space means you can fit a cozy sweater underneath. It comes in black and grey and looks great dressed over a shorter dress, or tossed over jeans and your favourite tee.

I accessorized the boyfriend coat to be a little extra winter friendly with a few cold-weather friendly accessories. I chose the Baxter Toque and the fletcher scarf which is 100% merino wool and feels like the softest cashmere. Both these items come in three colors, my favourite is a beautiful taupe. I finished off my look with my new favorite black booties; the Kelii bootie.

I wish the reality was that we lived in a sunny-all-the-time kind of place, but unfortunately that’s not the case. If we have to deal with the rain, we might as well do it in style. The All Weather Rider jacket is from their equestrian line, and is great for rainy-day horseback riding – but it’s also great for rainy day city activities. It has beautiful leather details, gold hardware and a removeable hood. It will keep you dry from the stables to the seawall!

One of the most beautiful spots to ride is the High Pointe Equestrian Centre which is a beautiful club in Langley which offers horse shows, riding arenas and even a fitness facility. I rode a gorgeous mare named Chianti who wore the most fabulous head piece, seriously Chianti is one glitzy gal. I spent most of the day in Noel Asmar trousers, which are stretchy enough to ride in and a classic crew neck, which has quickly become a staple four all shirt-tucking needs. It’s the perfect bottom layer.

I have stacked my wardrobe up with classic Noel Amar neutrals and they have been on heavy rotation since their inception into my closet. A classic black dress, well fitted coat, rain jacket and basic tee are all staples that should be included in every wardrobe.

What are your basic must-haves? Tell me in the comments below.
