The perfect vay..I mean stay-cation.

If you know me, you know I can be a bit of a workaholic. While taking a break is necessary, sometimes it isn’t feasible for me to go on vacation… because I don’t have time. One of my favourite luxuries is the “staycation.” The idea of taking some time for yourself, outside of your space and relaxing. One of my favourite places to relax is the Fairmont Pacific Rim. It’s close to the water, so we can go for a walk and coffee in a neighbourhood I don’t usually spend a lot of time in. They have the most beautiful hotel rooms and the BEST restaurants!

Gary and I were so excited for our staycation at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. Gary has never stayed at this hotel and I knew it would be a real treat for him as this is one of my favourite hotels I’ve ever stayed at. He’s been talking about a VACATION, but since we couldn’t make that happen, I promised him the best staycation. Fairmont Pacific Rim really makes your stay extra special and tries to accommodate their guests individual needs.

When we arrived, they had wine in the room upon check-in, customized our bath products and had already secured dinner reservations made for our date night in the new Botanist Restaurant. The bath was so huge and relaxing I wans’t sure I’d make it to the dinner reservation.

We love getting dressed up for a night out on the town together and enjoying some wine in the room to kick off our date night before heading out… Isn’t he just so handsome…

We had a drink before dinner at Botanist Lounge, which is so beautiful and the best spot for people watching. Gary LOVED the Rye N’ Reynolds cocktail and I had a crisp glass of white wine.

I can’t say enough good things about Botanist. We loved all of the food and they start you off with their freshly baked fougasse bread which was excellent.

I got the sablefish which was to-die-for! If you like fish, actually, even if you don’t like fish – this is a must. Gary had the mushroom tagliatelle to start and he said it was one of the best pasta dishes he’s had in Vancouver.

They definitely made us feel spoiled and it was a nice getaway from all the moving and unpacking we’ve been doing lately. It got me away from thinking about what we need for the house or what needs to get done and just enjoy our time together… with adult talk like how our businesses are doing and what are goals are for 2018.

We headed downstairs to enjoy the live music, which is always fantastic along with a nightcap before heading up to the room and enjoying a late check-out.

If you and your loved ones don’t have time to get out of the city, don’t worry – you can have a nice break close to home. If you can’t swing a night away from home, stop by Botanist for dinner, you can thank me later.

Happy Relaxing!
