Are you guys as excited for Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir… I mean… the Olympics as I am? Seriously am I the only one dying for them to be a couple?

The Olympics are under way and you’ll probably be getting together with your friends to celebrate and watch the games – if you’re a true patriot, that is! I’m going to take you through how to host your own viewing party, and make it a gold! The best way to cheer on your favourite Canadian athletes to come out on top is with some top scoring wines and international food pairings. I went on Novus TV to talk about my recommendations and I’m sharing them with y’all below!!

Now let’s talk about the wine. One of my favourites is Emiliana Coyam which has been awarded a variety of esteemed accolades like Wine Advocate and Wine Align. This particular blend is fresh and very fruity that has a bouquet of cherries, plums, blueberries and blackberries.

I’ve also selected a bottle from Bodega Norton Privada Family Blend which has also earned top scorings from Wine + Spirits, Wine Spectator and Tim Atkins. This one is a Bordeaux-style blend which has spicy, complex flavours of blackberry and cassis. One of the keys to a good party is a great variety of wine – a bottle to compliment every last taste bud, but I don’t know how anyone couldn’t love the two above.

Now while I’d say wine is equally as important, it’s really all about the food. I have enlisted my friends from White Table Catering to help with some of these classic Canadiana dishes that would be perfect for any Olympic celebration.

Let’s talk savory:

1.Go for the Gold Mini Vegan Mac and Cheese Cups

We have some maple bacon chips (for those who may want to add a little protein to their vegan cup), chives, home made bread crumbs, truffle oil infused mushrooms that is paired well Norton Privada Family Blend.

Food stations are really popular right now and a fun, interactive way for guests to get their food at any event. White Table Catering offers chef stations – their mac and cheese station is one of their most popular! This let’s guests feel like you’ve created something custom, just for them!

  1. Red and White Caprese Avocado Toast Bites with toasted ciabatta, tuscan olive oil, lemon, sea salt.

You gotta have your red and white treats while cheering Team Canada on, and what better combo than bocconcini cheese and fresh cherry tomatoes. Go Canada!

  1. Canadian Poutine Buckets with russets, cheddar curds and demiglace that pairs nicely with Emiliana Coyam.

White Table’s presentation is as good as the food. Look at these cute carrying buckets so you guests can take them to go and watch from their seats!

For some sweet treats we have:

4.Team Canada’s Trifle with raspberry, ladyfingers, frangelico whipped mascarpone that is nice with the Norton Privada Family Blend.

One of the best things White Table Catering has on their dessert menu is individual desserts like this one. They look great on a dessert table, or you can have it served to each individual guest for a more formal presentation.

  1. The Ultimate Canadian Macaron with white chocolate and Canadian bacon pairs nicely with the Emiliana Coyam.

Made especially custom for this olympic event to Celebrate Team Canada.

  1. Olympic Torched Marshmallows with bruleed homemade -marshmallows.

Make dessert different and turn this into another fun, interactive activity for your guests and book the smores station White Table Catering offers! They toast the marshmallows right in front of you, just like these ones here. It also makes a great late-night snack!

Sticking with our Canadian theme I’ve made a fun DIY centrepiece using Mason Jars and just some white and red acrylic paint. It’s also a fun activity you can do with your guests if you want to get crafty during the game. Here’s a step by step guide you can check out if you’d like to make your own: https://lovecreatecelebrate.com/canada-day-centerpiece/.

So whether you’re watching just for the Virtue-Moir win, or cheering on all the Canadian’s, your party is sure to win the gold.

Who are you cheering for this olympics Winter season?
