How to Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Home with Your SO + Giveaway

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody how much I LOVE Valentine’s Day. Any chance to get cozy with Gary and deck the house out in pink is a win-win for me LOL! It’s funny, I remember last Valentine’s Day Gary and I were really craving some more time at home after the hectic holiday season, so we decided to stay in and create a special night at home. Flash forward a year, and we’ve had nothing BUT time at home! Today, I’ll be sharing how to have an amazing night in with your significant other for Valentine’s Day and ALSO announcing an INCREDIBLE giveaway valued at $960.00 CAD!!!!!!!! This giveaway has everything you need for an amazing night in, so read on to see what I’ve got in store for all of you Valentine’s Day cuties!

1. Pre-Plan Your Meal

Getting in the kitchen together is such a great way to connect with your SO, and planning the meal itself also makes such a fun pre-Valentine’s Day activity. We love mapping out our meal and heading down to either a farmer’s market or somewhere a little more special to grab all the ingredients. That being said, we’ve been cooking more than ever before (not that we’ve had much of a choice lol), so we wanted to do something a little different for Feb 14th. We’ll be ordering the Valentine’s Day menu for 2 from the Lazy Gourmet. This menu looks AMAZING, and I love that it has plant-based options. And of course, you can’t forget the wine! An all-time fave of mine, we’ll be kicking off our dinner with the Effervescence Wines from Evolve Cellars. You can also use them to make an amazing French 75 cocktail too!!! YUM!

2. Pamper Yourself

I’m a big believer in Valentine’s Day being just as much about SELF love as partner love. Plus, I feel like I can only give my SO the attention they deserve when I’m feeling good about myself too. That’s why I think you should take Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to pamper yourself a bit — you deserve it!!! One thing that always makes me feel instantly better is getting my hair done. Era Hair Studio in Langley does such an amazing job with everything from colouring to cut and have such an amazing team if you’re in need of a salon. And while I don’t plan on getting dolled up like I would for a dinner out, I’ll for sure be treating myself to a new lounge set to feel festive and cozy in. How my style has changed this past year hahahah. I LOVE this shearling set and this matching pink heart set from PRIVILEGE Clothing.

3. Plan Some Fun Activities

While dinner usually gets all the attention on Valentine’s Day, I feel like planning a few activities to extend the day’s fun is also such a must when you’re at home! Gary and I got really into board games over the holidays, and let me tell you, learning a new board game with your SO can be so much fun!! A fellow couple recommended Ticket to Ride because you can play it with only two people, and we’re thinking of trying it out. Gary and I also love doing the occasional at-home spa session, which could be a great way to relax together. Some other ideas are painting with each other (watercolours can be a lot of fun), or even doing an afternoon couples workout together in anticipation of your decadent meal.

4. Set the Mood

As I’m sure you all know, I love any excuse to swap out my seasonal decor and have some fun with it. Valentine’s Day is no exception, and I have some beautiful decor up my sleeve!!! While you don’t have to go ALL out, adding a few romantic touches here and there will really help to set the mood and separate the evening from just another night at home. And what’s more romantic than candles!? I’m such a huge fan of Canvas Candle Company and their scents. They even put together this adorable Valentine’s Day gift box complete with dried flowers and a Sugarfina chocolate bar. I’m also incorporating a gorgeous balloon garland from Isa & Mattinee, which is going to be such a showstopper. I’ll be sharing my full Valentine’s Day decor setup on the blog tomorrow, so stay tuned for that!

5. Unplug

It’s so important to set REAL, quality time aside for each other, which is harder than ever right now. With zoom meetings happening everywhere from the bedroom to the living room, it can be really tough to separate work-life from home-life. This Valentine’s Day, make a promise to each other to disconnect, unplug, and be present. Pre-make some playlists or even break out the records to avoid picking up your phone for music, and set the laptops somewhere out of sight.

And as promised… I have an AMAZING giveaway complete with everything you need!!
